What we do

We are committed to promoting social justice and peace in Sri Lanka. We work to strengthen democratic values and support communities to participate actively in shaping a fair and inclusive society. We believe that lasting peace, justice, and inclusive development are achieved when communities are empowered, accountability is upheld, and diverse stakeholders work together.

We Provide Grantmaking

We provide strategic grants to community-based and civil society organisations to strengthen their capacity and impact. Our grantmaking focuses on initiatives that promote social justice, peace and inclusive development. We strive to be more than just a grantmaker by offering technical support, mentorship, and guidance to help partners design effective programmes, scale solutions, and achieve lasting change in their communities.

Discourse Building

We aim to create informed, inclusive, and democratic spaces for dialogue on justice and rights. The purpose is not only to generate ideas but to shape public conversations by bridging the divide between communities and policymakers. NTT fosters critical thinking and collective reflection, helping civil society engage more effectively in national debates and contribute to a just and plural Sri Lanka. As we value dialogue, diversity and democratic engagement, this forms a core part of creating an enabling environment for civil society.

Economic Justice | Gender Justice | Access to Legal Remedies

We support work that ensures all people, especially marginalised communities, have equitable access to economic resources, opportunities, and protections. We support initiatives that promote gender justice by challenging structural inequalities, amplifying women’s and LGBTQIA+ voices, and supporting inclusive policy and practice. By backing community-driven interventions, we contribute towards strengthening access to justice and legal remedies, enabling communities to claim their rights and shape the systems that affect their lives.

Citizenship | Public Institutions and Accountability

We support programmes that strengthen civic engagement, meaningful democratic participation and accountability. Our grantmaking prioritises initiatives that enable communities to shape policies and hold institutions responsible, ensuring that public systems serve all people equitably.

Health Equity | Disability Rights | Care

We support work that promotes inclusive health and care initiatives that prioritise the needs of marginalised communities. We back projects advancing equitable access to health services, including psychosocial support, community-driven approaches to care and disability rights that ensure human dignity.

Coexistence | Narratives | Knowledge

We support work that fosters social cohesion, dialogue and inclusive knowledge sharing. Our grantmaking encourages community-led storytelling and research that challenges dominant narratives, elevating local voices across diverse groups.

Emerging Issues | Solidarity

We support responsive and forward-looking initiatives that tackle emerging social, political and environmental challenges. Our grants encourage collaboration, movement-building and solidarity networks that empower communities to act collectively and lead change.
