Macroeconomic Policy and Socioeconomic Rights in Sri Lanka
This publication is a compilation of five research studies, conducted as part of NTT’s Macroeconomic Policy and Socioeconomic Rights Fellowship. They examine the human rights impacts of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis and recent macro economic policy changes. The reports explore regional inequalities in growth, governance and accountability gaps, labour rights in export industries, the gendered effects of tax reforms, and the impact of trade liberalisation on informal livelihoods, and offer critical insights into how economic decisions shape the lives of ordinary people.
More than just a Grantmaker’ marks 25 years of the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust’s work alongside communities across Sri Lanka. This anniversary publication brings together stories of community-based organisations working within the contexts of navigating violence, poverty and uncertainty, and responding with care and persistence. The publication contains stories showcasing how small shifts can build lasting change. They illustrate what happens when people are trusted to guide their own paths.
South Asia Convening on Decriminalising Poverty and Status
This rapporteur report documents the first-ever South Asia Convening on Decriminalising Poverty and Status held in Colombo in January 2025. It brought together voices from across the region to reflect on how law shapes everyday harm. The conversations centred on those who live at the sharp edge of criminalisation. The report outlines patterns of exclusion and the quiet violence of systems, while illustrating practice and experience across the Global South.
